Why history never stuck
History was taught one event at a time. That's why it never connected.
Textbooks and Bible timelines give you one line, one empire, one date after another. You memorize, you forget, and you never see how it all fits together.
This chart works the other way. Every nation runs as its own stream across the same page, so you can stop at any moment and see what was happening in Israel, Egypt, Babylon, Greece and Rome — at once.
You don't read about an empire falling. You watch it happen.

Shop the TimelineThe story of the 1871 chart
A 19th-century masterpiece, restored for your home.
In 1871, Oregon educator Sebastian C. Adams published a chart that did what no book could: it laid recorded history on a single, continuous panorama, with the story of the Bible running alongside the great empires of the world.
Adams kept revising it in later editions. Today the original is in the public domain, and we have restored it as a sturdy fold-out hardcover — easy to open on a table, easy to put back on the shelf.
- 1871Sebastian C. Adams first publishes his Synchronological Chart of Universal History.
- Later editionsAdams revises and expands the chart; it is reissued in several editions.
- Public domainThe original work is now in the public domain — part of our shared heritage.

How big is it?
It's a green cloth hardcover that opens accordion-style into 21 panels — one continuous chart of about 23 feet. Study a few panels at a time on the table, or unfold the whole story along a floor or a wall. Closed, it goes back on the shelf.
Is this the original 1871 chart?
It's a restored reproduction of the chart Sebastian C. Adams first published in 1871 and revised in later editions. The original is in the public domain; we restored its layout, streams and illustrations and printed it as a fold-out hardcover.
What chronology does it follow?
Like the original, it begins at Creation — dated 4004 BC, following the traditional biblical chronology of Archbishop James Ussher — and runs through the 19th century. It reflects the scholarship of its time, which also makes it a great conversation starter.
What ages is it for?
Children from about 8 can follow along with a parent. Teens and adults use it on their own — it's as much a reference for grown-ups as a teaching tool.
What is the free Family Study Guide?
A PDF guide included with every order: how to read the chart, 8 ten-minute activities and a 12-week family plan. It's emailed with your order confirmation.
